While I personally pray that it doesn't, there are just too many fantatics in this world for it not to be a reality.Īnyway, just thought it was important to take a moment and remember all the people that died that day and in the days afterward. And the reality is it could happen again, and probably will happen again at sometime in the future. No one wants to believe their home isn't safe anymore, but that's what Americans learned that day, that we truly are no longer safe. Not disbelief that it had happened, most all of us here in the states had known for years that sooner or later there was going to be a terrorist attack on US soil, but just disbelief in the form of denial. I don't think my mind could really comprehend what had happened for a moment, but then my husband's voice registered in my ear and we both expressed our disbelief. Every single channel had horrific pictures of a plane crashing into that building and exploding. I was still groggy and it didn't really register until I flipped the television on. It was my husband telling me to turn on the news because someone had flown a plane into the one of the twin towers in NY. It was about 8:30 am when my phone rang and woke me up. My husband was working on a survey project in Washington and was gone during the week, and home on weekends. At the time I was unemployed and living in Portland, OR. I will never forget the morning of September 11, 2001as long as I live. I thought it was appropriate to take a minute and write about 9/11 and where I was when that awful event happened.
